It is the 20th meeting <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">in a series beginning with ICTSC-1 in Bath (1973). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"hps\">The conference is covering the science of<\/span><strong><span class=\"hps\"> <strong>Ternary\u00a0and Multinary Compounds<\/strong>: <\/span><\/strong><span class=\"hps\">Chalcopyrite-type (I-III-VI<\/span><span class=\"hps\"><sub>2<\/sub>, II-IV-V<sub>2<\/sub>), Kesterite-type (I<sub>2<\/sub>-II-IV-VI<sub>4<\/sub>), Sphalerite- and Wurtzite-type (III-V, II-VI, etc.), Perovskite-type, Skutterudite-type, complex Oxides, complex Nitrides, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<table border=\"\" rules=\"none\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Materials topics are:<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li>Materials growth and properties in bulk and thin film<\/li>\n<li>Novel materials and material combinations<\/li>\n<li>Computational material design and modelling<\/li>\n<li>Material aging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Material related applications topics are:<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li>Photovoltaics, Photogalvanics (bulk photovoltaics), and Thermoelectrics<\/li>\n<li>Photocatalysis<\/li>\n<li>Light emission and light manipulation<\/li>\n<li>Spintronics, Multiferroics, and Superconductivity<\/li>\n<li>Memory effects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div id=\"gt-src-tools\">The conference will feature a special session on \u201cFerroelectric Photovoltaics\u201d.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Location:<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a title=\"Halle-Info\" href=\"http:\/\/www.halle.de\/en\/Culture-Tourism\/\">Halle (Saale)<\/a> is a town in Saxonia-Anhalt in central Germany, which lies on the river Saale. The town has a history of more than 1200 years. Halle was first mentioned in 806 AD <span class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">combination with the construction<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"hps\">forts<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in an<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">area of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">profitable<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">salt springs<\/span>. T<\/span><span class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">he rich<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">salt springs<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and the associated<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">trade<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">made the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">city<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">grow<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">steadily.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">About 1280<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Halle joined t<\/span><span class=\"hps\">he<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Hanseatic League and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">took the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">name<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Hanseatic city.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Late 15th century<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">staff employed in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">salt production, the so-called Salzwirker, have constituted\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">brotherhood<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">whose members<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are called<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to this day<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Halloren<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">They\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">and their<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">traditions<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are part of the<\/span> i<span class=\"hps\">ntangible Cultural<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Heritage<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by UNESCO.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\r\n\t<div class=\"slideshow_container slideshow_container_style-light\" style=\"height: 328px; Therefore Halle is called H\u00e4ndel <span class=\"\">town. In 1698 August Hermann Francke founded the Franckeschen Stiftungen, that have been the starting point of a social-humanistic education in Germany. In Halle is one of the oldest universities germanys, the <a title=\"University\" href=\"http:\/\/www.international.uni-halle.de\/university\/\">Martin Luther University<\/a> Halle-Wittenberg.
